We moved into our new home about a year and a half ago. Our lot is double the size of our last house and we love the space. Plenty of room for a swimming pool!!

After talking the LOML into putting the money into a pool by stating all the positives of having one ~ exercise, family magnet (we hope), pool parties, cooling off after sweating from work outs or lawn work, he finally caved.
We got a couple of quotes from pool companies and went with Rising Sun Pools in Raleigh, NC. Our first meeting was with Kevin, the pool salesman, who did a great job of giving us all our options and the possible timeline for completion. We were shooting for the end of June or beginning of July.
North Carolina has had A LOT of rain this summer so our dig date, then cement pouring for the patio, and then the liner install were all pushed back and that’s why we ended up filling the pool in September instead of July.

It was so exciting watching the progress every day.

The day the vinyl lining was placed, there was a knock on our back door and one of the installers told us that the liner for the stairs was put on the wrong side of the pool!! The excess vinyl in the below picture is supposed to be on the other side of the pool where the stairs are!! So we had to wait another week for a new liner to be made.

You can see our new 4 foot chain link fence that surrounds the pool area. It looks great and it makes walking the dogs a lot easier. No leashes, just open the door and let them run out. They love the freedom!
After the second liner (the correct one!) was installed a week later, we began filling the pool with water. The machines in the next picture are sucking the excess air out from underneath the vinyl so there won’t be any bubbles.

After we were taught how to test the water for the correct balance for the water chemistry, we went swimming in our new pool!!!!! We also had our landscaper lay sod all around the cement patio and it looks great.

We had four lights installed in the pool which can change colors but I like the blue (SHOCKER!!).

We’ve been in the pool every day since. Our neighbors came over to swim. Daughter #2 came home from school to enjoy the pool, too.
We love our new pool and can’t wait to have our very first (of many!) pool party!
Next project….landscaping!!
Come back soon and see how it looks!

Love y’all,
Linda
