A REDO ON THE SERVANTS’ ENTRANCE ~ painting a door and stairs

Does the door to the garage in your house look like someone beat it up? Mine always does. I paint it, wash it but nothing helps. It even has dents in.
How does a metal door get dents in it???
I was tired of cleaning it all the time and not getting anywhere so I decided to get the paint out.
Remember this door?
When I redid my kitchen, I decided to replace the regular 6 paneled white door with this pretty 10 glass paned door that I painted apple green. I’ve gotten so many kind comments about it.
Well, since I enjoy the pantry door so much I thought I would paint the garage door the same color.
Also, the two stairs leading down to the garage were trashed, too.
I once did a painting project in the garage and one of my children stepped onto wet paint, then proceeded to walk into the house. For two years, I have had a large white shoe print on my stairs.

I also saw this cute idea on Pinterest
What a great idea! A warm message to welcome everyone who enters. I LOVE IT!!
I made my own cheapy stencil so it isn’t quite so professional looking but I like it all the same.

I have a blister from cutting out all these letters. OUCH!

I stenciled the stairs with black acrylic paint.

I also added a little southern greeting of my own.

I sprayed the door and stairs with three coats of flat varnish to protect from traffic and the monster that put the dents in my metal door 🙂

And the big picture reveal

And the before and after

What do y’all think?I love it!! It’s so clean!

Thanks for visiting.
