DINING ROOM ~ I Love Me Some Molding!

Nothing makes a room look more classy and elegant as beautiful molding.  I love me some molding!!! In our previous house, we installed picture frame molding in the dining room and a chair rail in the upstairs hallway. In our present house, we’ve installed beadboard paneling in the boys’ room and girls’ room. The reason we liked the builder of the house we live in now is the extensive molding that they used throughout the dining room and living room.

If you plan on doing a molding project, I recommend borrowing a miter saw (that’s what we did), and plan MANY, MANY trips to your home improvement store. They have everything you will EVER need. I also bought (or checked out of the library) instructional books on cutting and hanging molding.  Have I mentioned “I LOVE ME SOME MOLDING!!!”?

The dining room is the first room I have BEFORE and AFTER pictures of. I love BEFORE and AFTER pictures. I painted this room around this picture which I bought from a dear friend who sold Home Interiors.
We painted the walls gold at first but when I walked into the room all I could think of was pumpkin. So we REPAINTED (I should say the LOML and brother-in-love painted) the room navy blue. See how it makes the white molding just POP!
When the stager saw this room, she said “You have to paint it!” (Sad Face) Well, here is the AFTER …
We painted the room the same color as the living room and foyer (Cividen Sandstone by Valspar), removed the carpet to show off the wood floors, painted the chandelier black, decluttered the china cabinet, painted the curtain rods black, and removed the flower decals from the crown molding. Alright, it looks okay. Still missing my blue though!

ADDENDUM  Okay, so I’m missing my blue so much I’m thinking of painting the china cabinet and table and chairs navy blue. What do y’all think?
And then I want to recover the chairs with this material that I found on Miss Mustard Seed’s blog. Click here  to read.
And I’m going to hang some bling on the chandelier (bling! bling!) and make a centerpiece for the table. I am copying from Thrifty Decor Chick. You can see her beautiful centerpiece here.
I will share all the redos when I’m done. I’m so excited!!! We’re gonna have a busy weekend! Hope y’all have a wonderful and safe weekend.
Have you ever missed a room? Please share.
GOD BLESS!
Love ya,
Linda
