MY WORD OF THE YEAR 2018

HAPPY NEW YEAR

2018!!!!

I love the beginning of a new year. Making resolutions and starting fresh. Excitement for what’s to come.

Over the past couple of weeks, a beautiful word has been popping up in my daily life that I can’t ignore as some kind of a sign.

I bought my daughter a cute t-shirt for Christmas with the word on it.

I showed her a video of one of my favorite songs by Lee Ann Womack.

The words to this beautiful song are so meaningful to me. I pray this over my children.

Lyrics

I hope you never lose your sense of WONDER

You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’
Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’
Don’t let some Hellbent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to sellin’ out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)
I hope you dance

I hope you dance (Tell me who wants to look back on their years and WONDER)
I hope you dance (Where those years have gone?)

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

Dance

I hope you dance
I hope you dance (Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along)
I hope you dance (Tell me who wants to look back on their years and WONDER?)

Then I got to explain to her what I thought the word meant. We had a WONDER-ful conversation about my 2018 word.

~Wonder~

What a great word. I feel like you have to say the word in a breathy, sexy voice to get the point across.

The Bible constantly speaks of the WONDERS OF GOD.

O LORD my God, you have performed many WONDERS for us. Your plans for us are too numerous to list. You have no equal. If I tried to recite all your WONDERful deeds, I would never come to the end of them.   Psalm 40:5

It’s defined as the quality of exciting amazed admiration; rapt attention or astonishment at something awesomely mysterious or new to one’s experience; feel admiration and amazement; marvel.

I want my life to be filled with WONDER ~ beautiful places, memorable adventures, awe-inspiring moments. I want to feel it in the music I hear, the food I eat, the projects I do, the relationships I have.

I then looked up “to do WONDERS” and found the statement “to have a very good effect on someone/something.”

So here is my hope for the next year….to do WONDERS in my life. I want to do good for other people. I want them to feel the WONDER I feel as I go about my day.

My daughter insisted that I read a book she read for school called WONDER by R.J. Palacio. It is a touching story about a boy born with a facial deformity who has a huge heart. He enters school for the first time as a fifth grader and the other kids aren’t always kind to him. It’s a beautiful story of acceptance and wonder as his kindness transforms people’s hearts and minds.

And during our winter break, we’re going to see the movie.

I know 2018 will be a WONDER~full year!!

What’s your word for the year? Share in the comments. I would love to read all about them!

Love y’all,

Linda
