ORGANIZATION ~ in all the chaos!

This weekend we’re working on finishing the desk area of our kitchen. It is our message taking/home school storage area/clutter collector.

We’ve cleaned, sanded, cleaned again, primed with two coats of Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3, and painted two coats of Sherwin Williams ProClassic Smooth Enamel Finish for Trim and Doors in gloss finish Extra White.

About this paint: It is absolutely amazing!! It goes on so easily. The secret is not to overwork the paint (brushing one area too much). We added Flood Floetrol to the paint (8 oz per gallon of paint) which helps extend the drying time so you have more time to fix drips. It eliminates brush and roller marks.

When we finished painting, we went to bed. The next morning the cabinets looked like ice, the paint was so smooth. We saw a few drip marks that we sanded and painted again but, all in all, it is a wonderful product! I am not getting paid by Sherwin Williams and this is 100% my opinion (and the LOML).

We just finished the second coat on everything so we’ll put the doors and drawers in tomorrow.

Speaking of drawers, I spent most of the day organizing all the drawers in the desk. I hated doing it but it felt good when it was done.

Now I don’t know about you but one thing I love about the beginning of a school year is BRAND NEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES!!! Love everything about them! So I had fun finding new things in the drawers that I forgot we had.

We have a zillion writing implements in our house ~ crayons, colored pencils, highlighters, pens, magic markers, sharpies, pencils. I organized them in lego boxes that once held baby wipes. I love when I can use containers over and over again.

I sharpened all the pencils (I’m giddy!), tried all the magic markers and threw away the dried up ones, labeled all the lego boxes and now everything is good with the world!

Hopefully, tomorrow I can show y’all the desk painted and put together. But for now, consider me at peace with my organization.

Good night!

Love ya,
Linda
