THE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS ~ Jesus

IMG_3389b

This will definitely be my favorite post.

The real meaning of Christmas is Jesus!!

Joseph and a very pregnant Mary had to travel to Bethlehem.

Let's read:

Luke 2:1-7 New International Version (NIV)

The Birth of Jesus

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

The Bible is an amazing book. Jesus Christ's birth was foretold in the Old Testament hundreds of years before.

For example, in Isaiah 7:14 it is told that a virgin will give birth to the Son of God,

in Isaiah 9:6 Isaiah tells us that Jesus Christ will come as a baby,

in Micah 5:2  it tells us Jesus will be born in Bethlehem,

in Isaiah 7:14 it states Jesus' mother will be a virgin,

and in Jeremiah 23:5 Jesus will be from the lineage of King David.

The list goes on and on but God foretold of His Son's birth long before it happened.

Jesus could have been born a king in a palace with all the riches in the world. Instead he was born to two humble parents who God chose to raise the Son of Man. He was born in a stable with the animals. Yet, he is the Prince of Peace.

Next time, I'll share about the people who knew who baby Jesus really was and traveled far to see him.
