A KITCHEN FACE LIFT

Hello Everyone!

How are you holding up with the stay-at-home and social distancing? I’m getting a little stir crazy myself.

So I started some projects around the house.

Check out our new DIY double barn doors for our master bathroom.

About seven years ago, the LOML and I finished our biggest project to date. We went from

I painted everything that didn’t run away from me!!

Our kitchen seems double the size since we lightened everything up.

Well, that was eight long years ago!!

So now I felt like the kitchen needed a little face lift! (And because I’m so bored being stuck at home!!) I love the green but I wanted to make it look a little more neutral with just a little touch of green.

First project ~ Paint the pantry door from green to Valspar Project Perfect black satin finish. I love how the crystal door knob pops against the black.

Second project ~ Paint the white garage door (that was all banged up from the large amount of traffic running in and out all the time) black. I don’t have a before picture because of the previous sentence 😉

Third project ~ Paint the white deck doors black to match all my other interior black doors.

Fourth project ~ Paint the green bar stools black. I thought they would get lost against the white beadboard of the island if I painted them white.

Fifth project ~ Paint the green kitchen chairs PPG Timeless Exterior paint with primer in white 100% acrylic. We used the same paint for our deck railing. Click on the link to read about our deck redo. I’m hoping it will be durable enough for all the moving, sitting, and sometimes throwing (AH! Just kidding!!).

Sixth project ~ Replace the small green kitchen mats with more neutral floor mats that I bought from Bed Bath and Beyond.

Seventh project ~ Believe it or not, the words on this ‘Life is Good” sign were black when I bought it. I repainted them green. Now I’m painting them black again!!! Wouldn’t I be irritating to live with? Don’t answer that!

I also changed up the desk area a little bit.

It’s amazing what a little (or a lot) of paint can do for a room!

How are you spending your free time at home? Any projects? Some painting?

Our next project is going to be huge!

staircase

We’re planning on ripping up the well-worn carpet on the staircase and replacing it with wood. I’m so excited for this project!!

We’re headed to the beach for the day. What are your plans for the weekend? Be safe!

  1. What a beautiful new look! I have been wanting to paint all our interior doors black for some time but we have SO many doors that I’ve been putting it off. Seeing your completed projects kind of makes me want to tackle that soon.
