A LETTER TO MY YOUNGER SELF

Dear Younger Me,

There are so many songs that I could quote and put into this letter.

“I Hope You Dance” by Leanne Womack ~ don’t be afraid to be yourself and be crazy.

“Dear Younger Me” by Mercy Me ~ you are holy, you are righteous, you are one of the redeemed, set apart, a brand new heart, you are free indeed.

“Live Like You Were Dying” by Tim McGraw ~ treasure every minute of your life. It goes by so fast.

“In My Daughter’s Eyes” by Martina McBride ~ always look at the world as a child would, don’t let the world make you cynical.

Always remember that you are loved no matter what your brain is telling you. You are amazing no matter what the world is showing you. You are smart no matter what your teachers are telling you. The trials and mistakes do not define you. They make you stronger and smarter and braver. Don’t let them make you angry, let them make you amazing.

You’re not going to believe this, but the bad boy is not your best choice. Go for the nerdy quiet guy. He’ll treat you nice.

Spend more time with your parents. They’re not as annoying as you think and they won’t be around forever. Treasure every minute with them.

Work harder in school. Forget the boys until college. You’re not ready for them and they certainly are not ready for you.

Spend more time talking to God. He gives you a perspective that you’ll not understand without Him. He’s a great friend and He loves you more than anyone else. Be thankful for Him.

January 26, 1977 is the worst day of your life. Get ready for it. And tell your dad how much you love him.

Don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re a good person. You have good friends. Be grateful for them.

Love,

Me

Dear Younger Me

Mercy Me

Love y’all,

Linda
