A PRETTY PINK DRESSER ~ and retirement!

This week has been very emotional for our family. The LOML (Love Of My Life) is, if I haven’t told you before, the sweetest, most loyal, God-fearing man I’ve ever known. This week, he is facing a huge change in his life!

He’s been with his present employer for 30 years!! Just recently, he received an offer that he believes is a wonderful opportunity for his future and his family. This week he said good bye to co-workers, and he retired from his job. He has been retired for three days.

Tomorrow, he starts a brand new job, in a brand new building, with brand new co-workers. He’s like a kid on his first day of school. He’s really nervous. He has driven to his new place of employment as “a dry run” before tomorrow.

We are so excited to see what God has planned for him on this new journey. We are so proud of him!!

We celebrated his retirement today with a dinner at Red Lobster.

Minus Son #2. We missed you Josh!

Because I’m the wonderful wife that I am, I wanted to distract him from all the anxiety so…..

I put him to work!

Today, we are playing musical dressers in the girls’ rooms.

There is a hand-me-down dresser that I painted white in the fuschia room (Daughter #1’s room). We’re going to move that dresser into the peacock room (Daughter #2’s room).
We bought a tall dresser on Craigslist to put in the fuschia room. I plan on painting it fuschia and adding some pretty crystal knobs. How fun is that? We have to fix a few of the drawer rollers and we’re good to go!
I bought these sweet little crystal knobs to replace the old handles that are on there now. I’m going to close the present holes and drill holes on each end of the drawers for the knobs.
$2.98 at Walmart.
So, today I took off the old handles, sanded every bit of the dresser to get all the shiny off and then filled the holes with spackling.
Then I painted the whole dresser with Valspar Ultra Rose Dust in eggshell.
We added the bling and it dressed it up like earrings dress up a girl’s outfit!! They are beautiful!
The LOML made a template so the knobs would all be exactly the same.
Here’s a before and after
We also finished Daughter #2’s closet. Before we painted it, we removed the single wire shelf. I knew I wanted to put this teal vanity inside the closet. I needed to redesign the shelving situation.
Or should I say “the LOML had to put his engineering mind into gear”.
He did a great job!
I’m on the look out for great baskets for storage.
Daughter #2 picked out her favorite pictures for the frames on the vanity. She absolutely loves her family!!
We had a great weekend with family plus a little work.

How was your weekend?
