COLLEGE GRADUATION ~ and a little picnic

Just yesterday I was walking Son #3 to the bus stop for his first day of kindergarten.

Then I blinked……….

and this happened.

As a toddler, he would jump around the house like “Tigger.” He was a ball of energy that ran full speed all day until he crashed into bed and fell fast asleep to prepare for another day of constant action.

This weekend he graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Studies. He wants to work in a recording studio. He loves everything about music ~ playing, listening, singing, and recording and producing. He’s going to be great!!

I cannot believe another of my children is ready to leave the comfort of our home and set out on their own exciting adventure. We are so proud of him and all the hard work he has put into earning this degree. A few tears were shed during the ceremony. I’m not gonna share names (ahem!).

Two of his brothers couldn’t make it to the ceremony but came up later for dinner and the celebration picnic the next morning.

It was a beautiful sunny day in the NC mountains. We couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather.

For dinner after the graduation ceremony, we drove outside of the college city since the restaurants would all be packed with other graduates and their families.

We chose Shatley Springs Inn and Restaurant.

The restaurant was located at the end of a tree lined driveway situated in the woods. The building was a log cabin type building with a long line of rocking chairs on the porch. I just had to get this picture with all the kids that joined us for dinner to celebrate Son #3s graduation.

They served the food family style so we ate and ate and ate! We had fried chicken, creamed corn, green beans, mashed potatoes, cornbread, macaroni and cheese (lots of mac and cheese!), and at the end, when we thought we couldn’t fit another bite into our very full stomachs, they brought the most yummy desserts. I had some chocolate pudding with whipped cream and crushed oreo cookies concoction that was definitely NOT on my diet!! Son #1 girlfriend, who is our paleo/keto girl/warden/drill sargeant (who was not at the dinner) saw this picture…

and blew up the picture to see what was on my plate!!!!!!!! So when I saw her the next day at the picnic, she knew I cheated!! I’m tellin’ you….she’s a picture stalker!!

Back to the topic…we had a great time at the graduation and at this great restaurant. If you’re ever near Shatley Springs, NC, you have got to try this place. Great food, great family atmosphere, great service!!

Love y’all,

Linda
