FRIENDS ARE FRIENDS FOREVER

Next year will be my 40th wedding anniversary.

How is that possible??

God has blessed the LOML and me with some wonderful friends. The kind of friends that, even if we don’t see each other for years, it’s like no time has passed.

Also, when one of us is hurting, we all hurt.

The LOML’s best man at our wedding lost his wife recently. When we found out, we were out of town so when we got back to our hotel room, the LOML called his friend. I could tell he was struggling to say “the right thing.” Is there really any words to alleviate the pain he was experiencing? When the LOML got off the phone, his face looked exhausted and worried for his friend.

We drove down to Atlanta for the funeral. We saw so many familiar faces from our past. As we caught up, it was like no time had passed ~ except for the fact that we all had more gray hair, wider waists, and are now parents and grandparents!!
The LOML’s best man lost his lovely wife to cancer. This weekend was sad and wonderful, mournful and joyful, full of crying and laughing all at the same time. We learned what a wonderful, giving, and talented lady his wife was. She touched so many lives. One of the speakers read a letter that was written from a nurse who was blessed to watch the love between a husband and wife during a very difficult time.
It was a beautiful service and a wonderful time catching up with old friends.
We stayed with a lovely couple who the wife has known the LOML since eighth grade and the husband was one of the LOMLs groomsmen.

I have to say, we’re making our 60’s look good!!!

Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant wrote a song that says,

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
I can′t believe the hopes He’s granted
Means a chapter of your life is through
But we′ll keep you close as always
It won’t even seem you’ve gone
′Cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

chorus

And friends are friends forever
If the Lord′s the Lord of them
And a friend will not say never
‘Cause the welcome will not end
Though it′s hard to let you go
In the Father’s hands we know
That a lifetime′s not too long
To live as friends.
We’re so grateful for the friends that God has placed in our lives and are very excited for our next get together!!
Love y’all,
Linda
