OUR NEW BACKYARD ~ Getting ready for summer!

Last summer, we had a vinyl pool installed and we enjoyed it for about two weeks before it got too cold to go swimming. Have I ever mentioned what a wimp I am with cold water? We have a heater for our pool and I love the temperature at about 85° and the LOML likes it about 75°. So we compromise on about 80°. Isn’t marriage great??

This Spring, I wanted to add some landscaping to the backyard before pool season comes around.

I’ve been looking at FastGrowingTrees.com for ideas. They have everything that a black thumb like me needs to know about what zone we live in, if the trees/plants tolerate full sun or partial sun, how big the plants grow, etc. I know NONE of that!!

We hired a landscaper to get his ideas on the spaces that I wanted to plant. I knew I wanted privacy trees so people aren’t force to have to see me in a bathing suit (hee hee). So the landscaper planted three crepe myrtles along the fence. They should grow to be about 8-12 ft. tall.

We added four solar lights around the bed that shines beautifully at night.

I also wanted two garden beds with trees, plants and flowers along with some fun outdoor decor.

The landscaper planted a pink knock-out rose tree that will grow to be about 5-7 ft. He then planted blue hydrangeas and yellow day lilies as the medium height and then he scattered small lilac plants to add a little purple coloring. I put a solar peacock (Daughter #2’s favorite) and a flag and lantern post. It’s so pretty when it’s lit up at night.

There’s also a potted hydrangea that will be blue and will grow pretty large. We placed two solar lights at the edge of the bed that also lights up the space at night.

The other corner bed is basically the same exact plants.

I can’t wait to see how the spaces fill in and bloom into all the different beautiful colors.

We just enjoyed a couple of different families who came to visit so we set up the firepit next to the pool and we had so much fun roasting marshmallows and making s’mores and laughing a lot!!!! I LOVE MY FAMILY!!

We also planted four knock-out rose trees into large planters and placed around the patio.

I love all the different colors spread around the yard. They’re just starting to bloom and it’s beautiful!!

I’ll share pictures of the flower beds during the summer so you can see how they grow.

Thanks for coming to visit!

Love y’all,

Linda
