Today we headed to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park where nature abounds! The scenery throughout the park is so beautiful!

The first ride we went on was the Na’vi River Journey, a boat ride through the Pandora Jungle of Avatar. If you’ve seen the movie, it’s equally beautiful with glowing plants and interesting animals from the jungle. It was majestic!

Next, we went to the DINOSAUR ride.

The WDW website states “Board a rugged Time Rover vehicle and set off on a thrilling adventure through a primeval forest filled with life-like dinosaurs. Careen through unpredictable hairpin turns. Dart around a fearsome Velociraptor hunting for prey. Avoid the clutches of a Cearadactylus soaring overhead!”

expedition everest

The boys did the Expedition Everest rollercoaster which has always been one of their favorites. When we were here in 2007 they rode it eight times!!

While we waited for the rollercoaster people we stopped for a drink. Notice the peacock over my peacock loving girl’s head.

Then we all hopped onto the boat on the Kali River Rapids. As soon as we got comfortable in our seats, the skies opened up and it poured rain. We got soaked before the boat even started to move. It was a fun whitewater rafting ride that brought us through the jungles of Asia.

We got off the raft soaking wet and headed to lunch at the Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafe. We sat outside on picnic tables lined with big trees and lots of birds. I enjoyed Sesame Chicken. We dodged the bird droppings as we ate.

Next, we took the jeep ride on the Kilimanjaro Safari. It took us through the Savannah of East Africa. We saw lots of animals ~ giraffes, hippos, elephants, cheetahs, white rhinos, zebras, and crocodiles but not lions (they were napping).

Then we attended the Festival of the Lion King ~ WOW!!! What a show! There were singers, dancers, acrobats, men on stilts, Simba, Timon, Pumbaa, and beautiful music. The show was absolutely stunning!!

The boys went to Expedition Everest again. While we were waiting for them we went to see Nemo but we just missed the last show.

nomads

These two have been college roommates and best friends for about four years. They met playing ultimate frisbee at Appalachian State University. Their team is called the Nomads. Hence, the sign behind them seemed appropriate (Nomad Lounge). Coincidently, they’re both wearing their Nomad jerseys, too.

We saved the best ride for the last ride.

Avatar Flight of Passage ~ AMAZING!!! Because it’s a new ride, the wait was really long!! The line walks you through the laboratory that’s seen in the movie. While we waited we got to see some cool things.

You sit on what seems like a motorcycle and you fly through and see all the beautiful Avatar jungle. I have to be honest, I was scared because it feels like you’re flying 60 miles an hour sometimes straight down (I hate that falling down feeling) and I believe I said a bad word really loudly and people laughed at me!! The WDW website states, “Climb atop a winged mountain banshee for a breathtaking 3D flight over Pandora’s otherworldly landscape.”

We headed home while the boys did Expedition Everest again.

As the day went on, I felt worse and worse ~ chills, achy, temperature, sore throat. When we got home, we had Wendy’s and McDonald’s for dinner and the guys went to a Chinese buffet down the street.

Sadly, tomorrow I’m staying home because I feel so bad but the family will head back to Universal Studios. Come back and hear all about it!

Love y’all,

Linda
